Subscape Free Music Festival (August 28–30)
Subscape is the kind of event that makes Baltimore feel like itself. Baltimore's beloved DIY music festival returns for another year of free, all-ages punk, hardcore, indie, and metal spread across Current Space and Le Mondo in Station North. With 60+ local and regional bands over three days, this is a love letter to the city's underground scene — no corporate sponsors, no $15 drinks, just music and community. Friday doors at 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon. Bring your friends. This one's free.
Maryland State Fair (August 27–September 13)
The Maryland State Fair is back at the Fairgrounds in Timonium, and it's the unofficial start of fall in the Baltimore region. Think Midway rides, livestock competitions, goat yoga (yes, really), fried everything, and live entertainment across multiple stages for two-plus weeks. Whether you're going for the blue ribbon quilts or the funnel cake, this is a rite of passage. Hours vary — Thursday 5–9 p.m., Friday through Monday 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Tickets run $8.25–$55.50 depending on the day and package. Located at 2200 York Road, Timonium.
Love Groove Festival (August 29)
Now in its tenth year, the Love Groove Festival at Point Park is a joyful celebration of Black and brown creatives featuring live music, local vendors, and family-friendly activities. Free to attend, this festival has grown into one of Baltimore's most vibrant summer traditions, showcasing the depth of talent and culture that makes this city so special. Head to Point Park on August 29 and plan to spend the whole afternoon.
